Tired

I’m tired of hearing Uecker say something like this:

“Billy Hall is 4 for 9 in his career against the Rockies starter………..and Billy Hall is out on strikes, stranding two.”

I’ve had it with our Park & Rec department.  Last year you would have heard me singing their praises, especially for their Tball/Baseball programs.  It was a breath of fresh air after a bad experience we had with a private club team.

This year I have become disenchanted with them.

A kids signs up to play 3rd grade baseball.  A Park & Rec employee decides AFTER the signup deadline that she wants her kid to play, so she signs him up, bumping the first kids onto the waiting list.  The waiting list is now 15 kids, and he has no chance of being on a team.  You think the department would make a team out of all these kids?  Nope, too complicated for them since it would mean an odd number of teams and it would be too hard for them to figure out how to schedule in a bye week.  Meanwhile, the kids who gets bumped is denied playing on a team with his schoolmates, a team he was on last year.  He his understandably upset, and is unable to get on any team or in any program in the area because it is so late in the year.

So happens the Director of the Park and Rec Department’s daughter was on the soccer team I coached.  I placed a call to him, figuring I had an “in”.  Nope.  I never even received a courtesy call back from him.  Nice.

Too bad I will now be looking at private leagues again next season, along with probably half the kids we know.

Hey Waukesha Blazers, you have room for us next year?

This is for you, Huck.

Many reasons could be found for the decline in the number of postings.

  1. Presidential election let-down
  2. It’s getting nice outside
  3. Lack of comments on blogs does not encourage blogging
  4. People are just too freaking busy these days.

Number 4 is my biggest reason.  Here’s a breakdown of my schedule this week.

Monday:  work 7-5, workout 6-7 while wife takes the kids to swimming, 7-9 get something to eat, get kids to bed, 9-10 go grocery shopping

Tuesday:  school zoo field trip 8-3, soccer practice 4-6, tball coaches meeting 6-7, 7-9 get something to eatg, get kids to bed , 9-10 maybe go workout if I have enough energy left

Wednesday: work 7-5, 6-8 cut grass & prepare for weekend camping trip, 8-9 get kids to bed, 9-10 grocery shopping for camping trip

Thursday: work 7-5, golf league 5-8, 8-10 prepare for weekend camping trip

Friday:  work 6-11, 11-3 pack for camping trip

Interesting story about our little city in the New York Times today.

Not sure how much of a review this is, since I’ve never done one before.  Let’s just call it my observations.

  1. The drinks were delicious and moderately priced.
  2. The 5 Lilly soup was the best thing we had there.  A creamy mix of red onion, white onions, garlic, and two other things (which adds up to 5) which I can’t remember.
  3. My wife’s lobster dish was also good, although it came covered with mushrooms which she didn’t remember seeing in the dishe’s description.
  4. I had the Ribeye, ordered medium.  It was medium around the exterior, but once I got to the inside half of the steak, it was rare.  This ruined the entire meal for me.
  5. The manager did bring us a dessert wine to compensate.
  6. The desserts were disappointing, we didn’t even order one.  The creme brule flavor was some weird thing, ginger or something.
  7. The entire bill was $125, not bad when you consider we had 3 drinks each.
  8. We were the only table seated until about 6 pm.  There were probably 4-5 tables seated when we left at 7.
  9. My overal rating would be a 2.5 out of 5.  I just wasn’t impressed, wasn’t dazzled.  Plus, my raw steak.  I probably won’t return, and couldn’t recommend to my friends when I know there are other high scale restaurants out there where I know they could get a great meal guaranteed.

I was excited when this project was announced, I thought it could help turn downtown Waukesha around.  I was always skeptical about the hotel’s success, thinking the rates were just too much with Milwaukee so close.  But I always thought the restaurant had a real shot, now I’m not so sure.  However, I would probably return to the bar, which was quite crowded when we left, and were even showing the Brewers game.

Man Crush….

on Paul Ryan.

carter-obama

I was only in grade school the last time this happened, but it’s all coming back to me now.

Obama insists there is no pork in the economic stimulus bills.  See for yourself here.

However, there is a provision in the proposed bills for $2B to be spent on a zero-emmission coal power plant.  Just so happens that there is a project for one proposed in…..anyone?………..yes, Illinois.  See for yourself here.  (By the way, the link includes a lingerie commercial before the actual story.  This was unintentional, but enjoyable none the less).

Same old b.s.

the alarming thing about daschle is not his tax evasion. it is the fact that he has received over $200k in speaking fees from healthcare related companies. this is the man that is supposed to reform our healthcare system, the same man that has been on the healthcare industry’s payroll. didn’t obama say something about removing this kind of graft from his administration?

Been a while since I posted, it’s been crazy at work, blah blah blah.

Just got done watching the innaugural address.  Honestly, I am experiencing some high anxiety about the way the economy is going.  American excess really scares me.   I’m not saying that I’m just worried about the state of America, I really am really anxious.  I can’t sleep sometimes because of it.  That said, although I am not buying into the Obama World Tour celebrity-ness of his fledgling presidency, I am hopeful.

In my quest to visit every bar in Waukesha before I expire, I add two new locations to my list this past week.

The Eagles Club was quaint.  Plenty of flat screens to watch the game, free popcorn, dirt cheap prices.  You’ll have to watch out for all the walkers and canes crowded around the bar, for the clientele is old as dirt.  Since The Eagles are a fraternal order, they also do quite a bit of charity work.  After many cocktails, I think me and my buddies joined, but I can’t remember for sure.

MC’s is located across the street from the Eagles Club.  One word:  scary.  I can say for sure I won’t be back there.  However, the bartender, Lindsay, was very nice (her dad owns the place), and she insisted they had great food.
